Take the advice of a faithful friend

That was the advice she gave…it was practical and appeared heart felt. If only she knew that in that moment she would be making a choice that she could never take back. After all who wouldn’t listen to her, she was kind even tempered and full of influence. Allison had not know Josh long but on the advice of Kate she took a leap of “faith” and told herself that she would be ok. The loud voices in her head were all wrong. How could she know that the situations from her past were the light house beckoning her to swim to safer shores, but Kate said that it was a good idea. He was cute funny and for the first time paid attention to her. He gave her the attention that she craved and filled a place in her that was in drought for so many seasons. How could she know where it would lead Kate’s advice was sound but was it right for Allison. She gave it pause and told herself that all things considered it would be easier to follow through with her decision rather than turn back…

Don’t Pursue Happiness…Create it!

IMG_6588

Create your own happiness…that’s sounds amazing. It gives the impression that we can just reach out and grab happiness by tail and say come with me now! In the lives of  many it is very possible for us to reach up and grab happiness by the balls and drag it to our door step. The thing is this phrase is a bit one-sided.  You can just reach out and grab your happiness…the problem is that when I think of this and phases like It makes me a little sad. I don’t think that everyone can just “create happiness”. It’s not for lack of want or desire for said happiness but circumstances prevent these individuals to “create happiness”. Hear me out… if you disliked your  job and lets face it most do…u could “create” your happy place by taking a nice vacation or cutting back on your time at work or take up a class in something that you love. However there are others  who quite literally cannot “create” happiness. For example the “invisible” class in India who are born into a caste system that says that they are not worthy of the simple conveniences in life-like job security or a home. They are told  and treated like they are less than human everyday of their lives until death. They are subject to the worst possible treatment like rape and unspeakable violence everyday. I can’t possibly fathom someone “creating happiness” under such horrific circumstances…i’m not saying that it’s impossible I’m just saying it would be extremely challenging to say the least. For some who are a bit more privileged yes we can “create happiness” for others it just seems to be the understatement of a lifetime.
